This is a really cute coat. I just received this coat yesterday and was surprised that the red you see in the picture is actually attached to the sleeve. I had two button fall off yesterday, so I had to re-secure all of them. The red material is heavy and was rolled over so it was 2 layers thick, while the coat is light so I removed the red from the sleeves(sleeves are long enough without the red). I usually wear a small in womens, but ordered a medium and it's a little rummy but allows me to wear a heavier sweater under(would feel safe with a small). The buttons are plastic, with material over the top. The button holes also need to be re-sewed.

Bottom line is this is a cute coat, cute design, with somewhat cheaper materials used. I am happy with the coat and have already got compliments.
